Campaign Lore

The themes and theology woven into The Prismatic Soul.

The Core Conflict

The central conflict of The Prismatic Soul is between Grace and Giving (The Creator) and Power and Taking (Vakos, the Eclipse of Gods). True godhood is defined by Charity, not raw strength.

The Splendor

Also known as The Brilliance or Intelligence, the Splendor is the divine light and truth of the Creator woven into all reality. When a world is healthy, Splendor flows freely. When Vakos attacks, the world begins to wither as its Splendor is drained away.

Each world knows the Splendor by a different name — in Humblewood it is the Great Rhythm, in Oriven it flows unnamed through the veins of the earth.

The One True Creator

The source of all Splendor. His true name is never spoken. Across the worlds he is known by many titles:

  • Oriven: The Sovereign
  • Humblewood: The Composer
  • Toril: The Luminous Being
  • Krynn: The High God
  • Spelljammer: The Prime Navigator
  • Feywild: The Father of Summer
  • The Crooked Moon: The White Lantern

The Persistence of Self

When heroes travel between worlds via Grafting, their physical form changes to match the setting — they may become Birdfolk in Humblewood or Elves in Faerûn — but their Soul and heroic nature remain constant. The body is a vessel; the Splendor within is eternal.
